Forest fires aren’t anything new in California; this lookout has kept watch over the Inland Empire for the past century!
Built in 1926, Keller Peak Fire Lookout is the oldest of California’s original lookout tower in the San Bernardino forest. During the summer, rangers keep watch over the valley from atop 7,882-foot Keller Peak. Visitors are also welcome to stop by for grand views of the Santa Ana River Valley, and learn more about the lookout and fire-fighting process from the friendly staff. Look west on a clear day and you can even see the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Islands! While on Keller peak, walk 200 yards west of the lookout to find the plaque marking the spot where a B-26 Bomber crashed in 1941. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can still see pieces of the wreckage. Open 9am - 5pm daily from Memorial Day to mid-November.
